Abstract

An adsorptive agent for use in the treatment of water by the process described in the parent Specification is prepared by treating an inert comminuted material, such as sand or powdered pumice stone, with aluminium hydroxide or a phosphate, such as phosphate of calcium or aluminium, in a colloidal form, so that a thin coating of the colloid is produced round each particle of the inert material, which is then dried at a low temperature.
