Abstract

396,885. Dust-trunks for cotton openers &c. HOWARD & BULLOUGH, Ltd., Globe Works, Accrington, and NEUKIRCHNER, A., 16, Spanjaardplein, Berne, Holland. May 4, 1932, No. 12816. [Class 120 (i).] In a dust-trunk 1 for cotton or other fibreopening and cleaning machines having intercepting means to deflect the cotton downwardly on to the grids 4, an interceptor 5 is provided in the form of a deflector (or deflectors) which is revoluble by the air current used for blowing or drawing the cotton through the trunk 1. The interceptor comprises arms radiating from a shaft 6 and formed with curved ends, the device being arranged within the trunk or, as shown, being partly accommodated in a cover 7 extending above the trunk 1. Substantially vertical side baffles 10 are provided to deflect the cotton away from the edges of the deflector arms. The grid bars 4 may be of the known vibratory type. The Provisional Specification describes also an arrangement wherein the deflector is positively driven.
