Abstract
396,074. Grilling and toasting apparatus. SCHOFIELD, O. M., Hill House, Bury Road, Rochdale. Jan. 28, 1932, No. 2561. [Class 28 (i).] A fork for toasting, grilling, and the like has a number of prongs 1, preferably in the centre, projecting beyond a number of prongs 2 at the sides, the extended prongs being adapted to pierce the bread or the like A or B, whilst the blunt ends of the shorter prongs form an additional support for the bread without necessarily piercing the same. The ends 3, 3a of the shorter prongs may be upturned to provide an additional support for the bread when itis pierced by the extended prongs and also to prevent the bread slipping when the bread is laid flat on either side of the prongs. As shown, the prongs may be formed from lengths of wire which are continued back and twisted around one another to form the handle 4. The prongs may be supported by a transverse length or lengths of wire 5, which may be connected by a wire 7 having a projection 8 on each side of the fork to form an additional support for the bread when it is laid flat on the prongs. In a modification the prongs, e.g. the extended prongs and the shorter prongs, may lie in two planes so that the bread may be fitted between the two sets of prongs. The fork may be made of other material than wire, e.g. it may be pressed from sheet metal.
