Abstract

205,682. Ogden, A. W. Oct. 20,1922. Laying and lighting fires; braziers.- A device for facilitating the lighting of fires and adapted also for use as a picnic stove comprises two metal or refractory plates 1, 2, which have rows of perforations 7, 8 and are hinged at 3, 4, to opposite sides of a frame 5 which carries a lifting handle 6. Forks 9, 10 are adapted to be inserted in the holes 7, 8 respectively and when the device is in position in the grate paper is placed between the grate and the fork 10, wood or a fire-lighter between the forks 9, 10, and coal on the fork 9. To adapt the device for use as a picnic stove, perforated end plates 12, Fig. 4, are provided having bent over ends 12a engaging at 13 over the side members of the frame 5 and the plates 1, 2 are fitted with prongs 11 adapted to penetrate the ground.
