[Class 20 (iii).] A guide for sliding-doors of elevators or the like comprises a rotatable member 11 pivoted in the plane of the door in a bracket 9 or in a T-shaped rail thereon. The guide may have several pairs of wearing faces and may be thinly coated, preferably electrolytically, so that used faces may be indicated by abrasion. The pivots 14 may be screwed into depending lugs on the bracket, washers being interposed between the lugs and the guide. A block with rounded corners on a single pivot may be used as guide. Slight lateral play may be allowed to the guide by slotting the pivot supports in the bracket. The bracket may be secured by a countersunk nut 36 and an interposed spring 39, as shown in Fig. 13. The guide may comprise a resilient core supported on a central spindle and provided with flanged wear faces of metal having projecting parts entering grooves in the core. Countersunk wear faces of fibre or the like secured by adhesive may also be provided. A rectangular guide supported on pins 62 and having a curved recess engaging a projecting part of the bracket is shown in Fig. 21. One of the supporting limbs 59 of the. bracket may be removably secured by a screw 60 and positioning dowels or by a rib and groove. To prevent the passage of flame or gas the guide may be recessed and engaged by a rib on the bracket or one long guide or several contiguous guides may be used. The guide may comprise two wedge-shaped parts relatively movable by screw and nut to adjust the width when worn or may have grooves, one of which engages a rib on the sill. The bracket may be secured to the door by a wedge-shaped or other recess and a corresponding projection on the door or by a lug at one end entering a bracket on the door and a screwed flange at opposite end.
