Abstract
394,230. Heel friction grips. BRANCH, O. J. and MINARDS, A. O., 23, Henry Street, Northampton. Nov. 17, 1932, No. 32509. [Class 17 (ii).] A heel friction grip comprises a shaped pad of sponge rubber or other soft resilient material 7 held between a cover 5 of thin chamois or antelope leather and a backing 9 of cloth, the edges of the cover 5 being sandwiched between the backing 9 and a facing 3, which may be the shoe lining, and which has an aperture 4 through which the pad projects to engage the heel. The facing 3, cover 5 and backing 9 are secured together near the edge of the aperture 4 by adhesive and sewing. The grip may comprise a single pad or two pads one on each side and engaging the heel bone of the wearer's foot. A method of making the grip by forming a depression in the cover 5 for the pad 7 by moulding is described.
