394,210. Multiple spindle lathes. SCHœTTE, A. H., 76, Rheinalle, Deutz, Cologne, Germany. Oct. 22, 1932, No. 29604. Convention date, Nov. 10, 1931. [Class 83 (iii).] A horizontal multiple-spindle work-turret lathe has roughing and finishing tool slides disposed in parallel relationship on separate guide beams and provided with separate feed mechanisms. The slides for the lower roughing tools f in a four-spindle machine are carried by the member k slidably supported on the central circular beam h and fed to the work pieces by a cam drum q, a secondary slide l being provided to resist torsion. The finishing tools g are carried by a slide o supported on guideways along the underface of an overarm i, a separate cam drum u being provided for the feed in this case. Both cam drums are driven from the shaft r at the same speed, the upper one being connected to the lower by worm gearing.
