Abstract

393,819. Moulding dial coverings for watches &c. POLLAK, R.., 10, Gumpcndorferstrasse, Vienna. Sept. 28, 1932, No. 26979. [Class 87 (ii).] A press for the manufacture of celluloid &c. dial coverings for watches comprises a ram with a yielding pressure surface which coacts with a cavity, the boundaries of which can he adjusted. The press ram has a hollow head 15 which is carried by a screw 2 and is closed by a rubber sheet 19 clamped thereon by a cap 20. The space behind the sheet 19 may be filled with compressed air or liquid through the nipple 21. Alternatively a solid elastic member may be used. The matrix member comprises a frame 10 containing a series of lamellµ 5 which have cutting edges 6 and extensions 7 which co-operate to form a mould cavity. The lamellµ 5 are clamped together by bolts 9 passing through slots 8. The periphery of the mould cavity is adjusted by placing a pin in notches 5<1> in the lamellµ and the sides may be formed by bridge-pieces b<1>, b<2>. In order to form a watch " glass " having a cylindrical surface the lamellµ may be reversible and be of different heights arranged so as to form the required surface as shown at 6<1>, 7<1>. Alternatively the frame 10 may be curved.
