393,748. Thermal switches. HADDAN, R., 31, Bedford Street, Strand, London. May 17, 1932, No. 14015. [Class 38 (v).] A temperature indicator and control particularly for electric stove ovens comprises a bimetallic coil 5 secured between a fixed sleeve 3 and the lower end of a rotatable spindle 4 which at its upper end rigidly carries a temperature indicator 6 having a raised portion 19a on half its periphery and also carries a freely rotatable regulator 10 on which is pivotally mounted the carrier 13 of a switch 16, for example of the mercury type, connected in the electric heating circuit. In operation the regulator 10, which carries a flat spring 12 for frictionally holding it against an arc-shaped support 11, is turned to the required degree of heat marked on a dial 8, and as with increase of heat the pointer 6b of the indicator 6 approaches the regulator, the raised portion 19a engages a roller 18a on the carrier to tilt the switch 16 to its open position. As the temperature drops the switch closes.
