Abstract
393,094. Hygrometric apparatus. REAVELL, J. A., 5, Grosvenor Gardens, London. June 22, 1932, No. 17619. [Class 97 (iii).] A moisture-absorbing device comprises a container for a mass of absorbent material such as silica gel treated with a colouring agent such as cobalt chloride adapted by colour changes to indicate the condition of the absorbent material, opposite walls of the container having perforations for the ingress and egress of the medium to be dehydrated, while the lid is provided with a window. In one form, the body part a of the container has a ridge c over which fits the lid b so as to seal the container. The treated silica gel d is loosely packed, and the top and bottom of the container have perforations e, the top having also a window g of material such as glass or mica. In another form the material is disposed between concentric perforated tubes. The device may contain several layers of absorbent material so treated as to change colour at different degrees of saturation, so that it functions as a humidity indicator. It may be attached to containers for goods which are to be maintained in a dry condition.
