Vacuum closures. - A container for use in preserving food has a cover a, for example of glass, having a small aperture c closed by an air-tight stopper d which mav have a rubber washer e. The cover a may have a cylindrical neck b surrounding the stopper d and connected by a rubber socket f to a three-way cock h enabling the container to be connected to the atmosphere or to evacuation apparatus. A perforated plate i, preferably of aluminium, &c. may be provided above the neck b to keep the stopper d in the aperture c.
