Lined or coated boxes; treatment of contents, specially designed for; lids.-In an egg box of the type in which a valve is provided for extracting the air within the box. the lid 3 of the box is held upon a rubber or like seating 2a by spring clamps 4. An additional outer lid 5 which may be hinged to the box or detachable therefrom is provided. The box, which is formed of metal and is divided by longitudinal and transverse partitions into compartments, is preferably lined or coated with enamel, bitumen or like. The valve is preferably of such construction that an ordinary tyre inflator can be employed with it.
