Abstract

The bottom wall 1 of a tray, for perishable foodstuffs which exude juices, has a centrally-located shallow recess 3 and grooves 4 which extend from the bases of the side walls 2 toward and communicate with the recess 3. The recess 3 contains a foraminous bag 5 for an inorganic hygroscopic granular substance 6 which absorbs exuded juices. Alternatively, the recess is filled with an effective amount of hygroscopic material 6 which is overlapped by a porous cover sheet. <IMAGE>
