Abstract
392,727. Aeroplane cabin-tops. COMPER AIRCRAFT CO., Ltd., Heston Airport, Hounslow, Middlesex, and COM. PER, N., Hooton Park Aerodrome, Wirral, Cheshire. April 23, 1932, No. 11746. [Class 4.] In an aeroplane a cabin-top comprises two relatively movable parts, each comprising a roof and side walls, of which the front part is provided with a roof movable relatively to the side walls and is adapted in its rearward movement to slide over the roof of the rear part of the cabin-top and to fit closely in contact with the roof, so as to uncover that part of the cockpit adjacent to pilot's and/or passenger's seat. The cabin-top comprises a fixed screen 3, against which abuts a rearwardly slidable part 1, and a fixed rear part 2. Roof portion 9 of part 1 is hinged to its side walls by links 10, 11 at the front and by a pin and slot connection at the rear. Actuating means which may be disposed within the cockpit comprise a pivoted hand-lever 15, rearward movement of which causes part 1 to slide rearwardly, the side walls being engaged in guides formed in the side walls of the fuselage and the underside of roof 9 engaging in guides in top members 14 of the roof of rear part 2. A baffle 6 is fitted to screen 3 at the top and similar baffles may be fitted at its sides.
