Convention date, Dec. 12, 1931. [Class 53.] An accumulator having an alkaline electrolyte has a metal casing a covered with rubber up to a point e below the top edge of the casing. The exposed portion of the metal casing and the .upper part of the rubber covering are protected by a layer of varnish d which also seals the joint between the metal and the rubber. Asphaltum or other varnish proof against caustic potash and oil may be used.
