[Class 40 (iv).] In the system described in the parent Specification in which the details necessary for the establishment of a toll call are recorded on a perforated card, the card is carried away on a conveyer and is removed therefrom automatically at the appropriate position for the setting up of the call. As shown, this position is determined by the penultimate digit or letter of the exchange designation, which is registered on the switch BZW. When the punching operations are initiated, contact z closes and a circuit is made over wire an for advancing the switch R to a position marked by the switch BZW, whereupon relay P energizes. Contact l closes when punching is complete. The conveyer band FB has transverse metal strips spaced at intervals corresponding to the positions to which the cards are to be conveyed, and when such a strip reaches and bridges contacts k, the gripping magnet G operates and deposits the perforated card on the conveyer. Relays V, Y energize and prevent further operation of magnet G until the transfer is complete, al. though the punching apparatus is available for use with other recording apparatus. The contacts k also send an impulse to the.switch S, and further impulses are sent as succeeding metal strips pass these contacts until the switch S reaches a position marked by the switch R, when relay X energizes and the gripping magnet at the appropriate position operates to remove the card from the conveyer. Relay P releases and the apparatus restores to normal. Calls may be concentrated when' desired 'at one or more positions by providing switches at either or both the points Kz. The switch S may be marked directly by the 'register switch BZW provided the latter is locked until the transfer is complete.
