Abstract

763,724. Electric selective signalling systems. TYSZKIEWICZ, S. E. May 1, 1953 [May 3, 1952], No. 11249/52. Class 40 (1). [Also in Group XXXIX] The invention relates to control equipment for a magnetic recording system in which impulses set a switch having control relays connected to its banks, the control relays locking up on operation, whereupon the switch is homed. As shown, a telephone set is equipped with a non-standard dial in which its impulse contacts D are normally open, but close on the forward motion of the dial and then open on commencement of the return motion during which they close intermittently for a number of times corresponding to the digit dialled and finally remain open. Impulse relay IR in the recording station operates to the first closing of the dial contacts and slow-release relays A and B follow. Subsequent operations of the impulse relay set the switch PS and upon the last release of IR, relay A releases to cause the operation of one of a set of control relays C connected to the corresponding terminal of switch-bank PS2. Relay C locks up and when B falls back, the switch PS homes. Relay C remains locked up, until a further train of pulses operates A. The various C relays control different functions of the recording equipment, e.g. recording, stopping the recording, marking the recording medium at the end of a letter or paragraph and playing back. Specification 657,627 is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
