Abstract

392,242. Mounting reflectors. MAINWARING, H., Inverleith, Oldfield Road, Bowdon, Cheshire. Nov. 27, 1931, Nos. 32860/31 and 6139/32. [Class 75 (ii).] Lamp reflectors are mounted so as to be angularly adjustable in two planes upon a support secured to a pipe or other fixed part, each reflector resting on an adjustable screwed abutment on a member which forms part of the support and being hinged to that member so as to be readily detachable without disturbing the setting. A bracket A is formed with a vertical part V having a curved central portion which fits around a vertical rod or tube, and a horizontal T-shaped part S, the leg of which extends outwardly and has a rounded end. An angle bracket B is pivoted by means of a screw F near the rounded end of the leg. Fixed at the corner of the bracket B is a rod G on which rotate rods T, T<2> which carry the reflector. The rod T is bent over to form an eye at its end, and the rod T<2> to form a hook, so that they, together with the reflector, can easily be engaged with or disengaged from the rod G. Adjustment in a vertical plane is obtained by means of a screw Z, which bears against the rear surface of the reflector and is locked in position by a nut J. A screw W passes through a hole in an upwardly projecting ear E<2> (not shown). The end of the screw is threaded to a smaller diameter and passes through a hole in a second ear E which is of a correspondingly smaller diameter, and a nut is threaded on the end, so that axial movement of the screw is prevented. A nut K threads on the main part of the screw, and has fixed to it a claw, the forked part P of which engages with a screw X in the bracket B. Rotation of the screw W causes axial movement of the nut K and claw, which rotates the bracket B. A nut may be provided on the screw W to lock it in position. A similar assembly is arranged so that the curved portions of the vertical parts V of the brackets A clasp the rod or tube which supports them. According to the first Provisional Specification, the reflectors are each hinged as described above to the outer edge of a flat metal member which is notched to enable angular adjustment in the horizontal plane about an angle bracket through the lower part of which passes a screw for adjusting the reflector at the required angle in the vertical plane. A pair of brackets, each with its associated flat metal member, are clamped to a supporting column.
