Abstract

Green wool dyes are obtained by causing a compound of the anthraquinone series containing in 1 : and 4 : positions substituents which are replaceable by imino-radicals (for instance, halogen-, hydroxy-, alkoxy- or nitrogroups) to react with 4-aminodiphenyl, a homologue or substitution product thereof, containing no further amino group, and sulphonating the products thus obtained. According to examples quinizarin with leucoquinizarin, 1 : 4-dichlor-anthraquinone, 1 : 4 - dichloro - 5 : 8 - dihydroxy anthraquinone, and 1 : 2-benzo-5 : 8-dichloranthraquinone, are condensed in presence of agents such as boric acid, and sodium acetate with 4-aminodiphenyl, quinizarin, &c. with 3-methyl-4-aminodiphenyl and 4<1>-chloro-4-aminodiphenyl, and 1 : 4-dichloroanthraquinone with 4 - aminodiphenyl - 4 - carboxylic ester (obtainable by nitrating the 4<1>-ester, separating the 4-nitro compound and reducing), and the products sulphonated by customary methods.
