Abstract

Manganese arsenate for use as an insecticide is prepared by the interaction of manganese dioxide and arsenious acid under a steam pressure of 80 lbs. to the square inch and subsequent treatment of the product with an alkaline agent, the arsenate of which is difficultly soluble in water.ALSO:Fungicidal and insecticidal dusting substances for the treatment of plants comprise sulphur and manganese arsenate in finely divided condition. In addition, aluminium or zinc hydroxide, or substances such as zinc sulphate which produce these hydroxides under the conditions of use, may be added. The manganese arsenate may be prepared by the interaction of manganese dioxide and arsenious acid under a steam pressure of 80 lbs. to the square inch and subsequent treatment of the product with an alkaline agent the arsenate of which is difficulty soluble in water.
