Abstract
390,116. Grates; ashpits. METALLGES. AKT.-GES., 45, Bockenheimer Anlage, Frankfort-on- Main, Germany. Dec. 21, 1932, No. 36171. Convention date, March 10. [Class 51 (i).] In a gas-producer of the kind in which the column of fuel is supported by a table 4, the ashes are passed to a discharge means through an opening provided in the middle of the table, to which opening the ashes are conducted by a rotatable hood or grate member 9 disposed above the table and provided with scrapers 10. The rotating parts also carry scrapers 13 for conducting the ashes into the discharge duct 11 which in the case of producers working under high pressure leads to a discharge lock 12, Fig. 3. Where the pressure is sufficiently low as to enable a water seal to be used, the ashes are crushed by means of nose pieces 20, 21 on the rotating parts and on the edge of the opening in the table respectively, Fig. 2, and pass by way of duct 11 into the seal from which they are removed by a worm 22. The grate member 9 may be provided with slots 18 for the passage of air supplied through a conduit 14 and is rotated by means of a shaft 7 to which it may be directly attached as in Fig. 2 or geared as in Fig. 3.
