Abstract
389,660. Castors. NALLE, C. R., 515, Stock Exchange Building, Philadelphia, U.S.A. April 14, 1932, No. 10704. Convention date, April 15, 1931. [Class 52 (i).] A castor is provided with means for vertical adjustment and locking, which is fitted on the shank of the castor. Fig. 5 shows a castor wheel 2 in a yoke 1 fitted with a stem 3 formed with grooves 4 which have inclined upper surfaces and horizontal lower surfaces. The lower end of the guide 5 is formed with a flange fitting into an annulus 7 with upwardly extending teeth 8 and horizontally extending tabs 9. The base 10 of the annulus 7 is engaged by the U-section inner parts of a disc 11, which is set in a thicker disc or cup member 12 with a bent-over flange 13. In the disc 12 are eccentric grooves 15, Fig. 3, receiving pins 16 on dogs, Fig. 7, pivoted at 18, formed with grooved edges 19 adapted to engage with the grooves 4, Fig. 5. By rotating the disc 12 counterclockwise, the dogs are disengaged from the stem 3, and the castor adjusted. The disc 12 is then released, and the stem is looked in position.
