Abstract
389,305. Snap-action switches. BULGIN, A. F., Abbey Road, Barking, Essex, and STOTT, H. T., 17, Sylvan Avenue, Mill Hill, London. May 11, 1932, No. 13581. [Class 38 (v).] A snap-action switch comprises an operating spindle c on which is loosely mounted an insulating contact cylinder e, and to which is rigidly attached a driving bush e. A shoulder i on the bush f and a shoulder (not shown) on the cylinder 2 provide a lost motion connection between the parts and a torsion spring j is also connected between the cylinder and the driving bush. In the form shown in the Figure, which is for varying the connections of an inductance b, a longitudinal metal insert k on the cylinder e constitutes a movable contact which co-operates with a set of spring contacts m which are recessed at their ends to receive the contact k. This serves to hold the cylinder while the spring is being strained until engagement of the shoulders on the cylinder and driving bush gives a positive start to the cylinder. A longitudinal rib of insulating material serves to arrest the movement and also to provide initial restraint for the return stroke.
