Abstract

389,211. Sporting cartridges. EDWARDS, W., 25, Manchester Street, Luton. Dec. 23, 1931, No. 35524. [Class 9(i).] Cartridges in which a shot charge is contained within a shell 6 formed of paper, parchment, papiermache, buckram, or metal foil and attached to the wad 12, have the shell corrugated to increase its strength. Solid lubricant may fill the grooves formed by the corrugations to complete the cylindrical exterior of the shell. The shell is attached to the wad by a metal staple or fastener 14 and may be recessed into the wad. Fig. 5 shows a thin metal ribbed shell with bevelled fingers 16 which open against the air pressure.
