[Class 29.] In a fish &c. freezing plant particularly for trawlers of the kind in which the fish is cooled in a chamber through which is circulated brine cooled by a continuously-operating refrigerating machine, the brine is further cooled immediately following the introduction of a fresh charge of fish in the chamber by circulation through an ice container. The brine may be cooled in a tank 2 by an evaporator coil connected to a refrigerating machine 4 and circulated by the pump 5 through one of the tanks 11, 11a, which may be charged with ice when desired, and the pipe 13 to one of the freezing chambers 1, 1a, 1b in which the fish is stored in boxes and from which the brine passes in part directly to the tank 2 through the corresponding pipes 17, 17a, 17b and in part through the salt container 9 and thence to the tank 2. Vent tubes are provided on each of the chambers and containers to prevent the formation of foam therein. In the case of a trawler, the fish is charged from the deck on to the floor 33 upon which are mounted the freezing chambers 1 .. 1e and the ice container 11. The brine tank 2, refrigerating machine and brine circulating pump 5 are disposed beneath the floor. The ice and frozen fish may be stored in a hold having a jacket space containing a refrigerating coil connected to the brine cooling machine.
