Abstract
388,197. Mechanical switches without quick action. SALENIUS, C. G. T., 4, Atlasgatan, and HOLM, A. V., 9, Blasieholmstorg, both in Stockholm. Feb. 10, 1932, No. 3948. [Class 38 (v).] Direction indicators for motor-cars and like vehicles are operated by rotation of a switch 7 which is supported on a bracket 3 projecting laterally from the steering column 2 so that the switch occupies a position at substantially the same distance from the axis of the steering column as the rim of the steering wheel. The switch is connected to the movable stops 23 by a spindle 8 movable in the bracket 3 and supporting the said stops. Rotation of the switch 7 in one direction or the other raises one of the stops 23 and the raised stop is returned to neutral position by a pivoted pawl or latch 27 on the steering column when the steering wheel is being turned to straighten out the direction of the vehicle after the turn indicated has been made. Electrical contact to operate the signalling device is made by metallic buttons in an insulating plate 14 contacting cupped metallic terminals in an insulating plate 9. If, on account of the presence of levers &c., the bracket 3 has to be placed low on the steering column, the stops 23 are connected to the spindle 8 by vertical links.
