Abstract

Cotton fabrics &c. are woven with any warp and with weft such as cotton comprising moistened incompletely twisted yarns wherein the degree of twist is half or less than half that usual for the particular count. The weft is moistened just before weaving by wrapping the weft bobbins in wet cloth, or by steaming, or by placing them in water in vacuo to facilitate penetration of the yarn. Moistening agents such as sulphurized oils may be added or hygroscopic materials. The fabric may be mercerized, bleached, and dyed.
