Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 96.] In longitudinal wire-cloth machines for making paper, cardboard, asbestos cement, &c., the gate 27, Fig. 2, comprises a plurality, e.g. three overlapping parts, and the edge of the gate adjacent the wire is adjustable in distance therefrom, to allow adjustment of the width and thickness of the web produced. The gate 27 of rubber, steel plate, &c. is adjustable locally across the machine by nuts 36 on screws 33 linked to the gate 27 and is adjustable bodily by a hand-wheel 32 actuating a worm 31 and a segment 30 turning about a horizontal axis 29. A roller 37 with parts of right- and left-hand threads assists felting. A web on the upper wire-cloth 1, Fig. 1a, which may differ in colour &c. from that on the lower wire-cloth 11 passes over a suction roller 5, the webs being united at A, consolidated by a couch press 21, and passed through presses 22 to a cutter 23 and by a conveyer 25 to further presses.
