Abstract
387,215. Aerials. GARLAND, C. S., Battenhall, Southill Road, Chislehurst, Kent. June 9, 1932, No. 16343. [Class 40 (v).] A wireless aerial consists of an open-ended compound flexible strip comprising a length of insulating material 1 such as cloth tape or paper, having mounted upon it a metallic component 2, e.g. of aluminium, which may be of wafer thickness, this conducting strip or coating being covered by another insulating strip 3, and the combination being coated on one side with a non-drying adhesive. A coating of damp-proof material is preferably applied before the adhesive is added. The strip 3 may, as shown in the Figure, be of a width intermediate between those of the basic strip 1 and the conducting member 2, and the adhesive may be applied over the whole of the side of the compound strip shown in the Figure or only to the uncovered edges of the strip 1. By this means, the aerial may be readily atached to the walls of a room, and the exposed face may be decorated to appear as a dado. One end 4 of the compound strip may be turned over and fitted with an eyelet 5 or the like to provide means for connecting a wire leading in to a radio receiver.
