Abstract
387,171. Cartridges and wads for whaling. BROFELTH, G. E., Halmstad, Sweden. April 12, 1932, No. 10496. Convention date, April 13, 1931. [Class 9 (i).] Relates to wads intended for whaling guns and of the kind comprising a number of discs 2, 3, Fig. 2, held between end-pieces 1, 4 of rubber or the like, for example by an axial wire. According to the invention, the discs 2, 3 are made alternately of larger and smaller diameters, the larger discs being of soft or resilient material, or concave or convex, as shown at 2b, 3b, Fig. 4, and 2d, 3d, Fig. 6. The periphery of the discs may be cylindrical or conical. The rear piece 4 may be formed with circumferential grooves 7, or may be built up of discs of diameters alternately larger and smaller. A pasteboard cup 5 is attached to the rear piece 4 and receives the powder charge which is tied therein by cords 6.
