Abstract

387,081. Peeling potatoes. ASSERSOHN, D., 31, St. Bride Street, London. Dec. 10, 1931, No. 34285. [Class 28 (ii).] A potato peeler of the type comprising a container 1 with an abrasive inner surface and a rotary abrading bottom disc, has an upstanding pin 22 secured in a recess in the bottom of the container to engage in a recess in the end of the shaft 19. The cover 4 carries a frame 10 on which the driving-gear 12 .. 16 is supported, the shaft 16 being releasably engaged with the disc-carrying shaft 19. A hand-knob 21 may be grasped by the operator whilst turning the handle 11. The cover is held down by two catches 6, one of which is held against accidental displacement by a stop 8, and is provided with an inside rib 5 to prevent water from splashing out of the container. The container is roughened by attaching small pieces of stone or very rough sand, and the disc may be ribbed to strengthen it.
