Abstract
386,603. Boring -heads. MANNESMANNRÍHREN-WERKE, 1B, Berger Ufer, Dusseldorf, Germany, and SCHIMMEL, H., 24, Weingasse, Komotau, Czecho- Slovakia. Sept. 17, 1932, No. 25935. [Class 83 (iii).] A rotary boring- head having a toolholder capable of transverse adjustment in slideways on the head is arranged so that the thrust on the tool is transmitted uniformly over the guiding surfaces ; this is effected by bars placed intermediate the slide and its ways having point contact with the slide on the side of the axis through which the working force acts. The working force on the tool 1 of a rotary boring-head K, Fig. 3, is denoted by Pr and bars 8, 9 are arranged between the slide 2 and the ways. The resisting torque acts through the point contacts C and is spread uniformly over the relatively movable surfaces. Springs 10 may be provided as shown with means for adjustment for wear 11. A similar arrangement is adopted for the guiding surfaces in the plane of rotation, Fig. 2.
