Abstract

385,780. Recording-apparatus. MAUZIN, A. E., 41, Boulevard de la Gare, Paris. Feb. 19, 1932, No. 5024. Convention date, Jan. 18. [Class 106 (iv).] Recording by co-ordinates.-The warp of a railway track is obtained by recording the variations in the vertical distance between the centres of two tensioned cables connected respectively to the diagonally related wheels of a vehicle bogie running on the track. The bogie axles are extended at 5.. 8 and carry ball-bearings 9.. 12 to which are diagonally attached the ends of cables 45, 46 respectively The latter pass over pulleys 21 rotatably mounted in carriages 13, 14, Fig. 3, slidable in vertical guides 19, 20 and biased by springs 44 to maintain the cables tensioned. The vertical displacement between the carriages, variations in which thus indicate the warp, is recorded by means of a Bowden wire 22 connected to carriage 14 ; the sheath 23 thereof is connected to carriage 13, and the other end of the wire actuates a stylograph 26, Fig. 2. The ballbearings 9.. 12 may be laterally slidable in bushes forming the connecting points for cables 45, 46, the bushes being fixed relative to the bogie frame. Should the warp exceed the tolerance limit, a contact 35 of the stylograph closes at 36, Fig. 5, the circuit of a magnet 37 the armature 38 of which permits a clockworkactuated disc 39 to rotate from one notch to another, during which time a circuit is closed at 40 to energize a magnet 41 which opens a valve 42, a stream of paint from a tank 43 being thereby projected on to the track. The valve 42 may actuate a style to record its operations on the moving band of the stylograph 26 or on a separate moving band. By connecting another Bowden cable to the bogie, and its sheath to the vehicle body, the positions of the curves along the track may be recorded on one of the moving bands, both of which are suitably calibrated by contact devices operated from one of the driven wheels.
