[Classes 120 (i) and 120 (ii).] In drawing-apparatus for spinning-machines such as ring frames and mules a yielding drawing-device, including a yielding nipping- point, constituted by a roller c and a leather belt d, is arranged at a distance always less than the length of the staple from a fixed nipping-point a<1> formed by a ribbed roller b and a co-operating trough a. The roller b is pressed against the trough and the material is prevented from spreading by side cheeks a<2>. The roller c is provided with ribs c<1>, Fig. 2, or is of polygonal cross section, so that the distance between the nip a<1> and the contact of the roller c and the belt d varies continuously, but is never longer than the greatest length of staple, the shortest distance being from 10 to 15 mm. shorter than the greatest length of staple. The belt d passes over a roller f driven by a toothed wheel t from the shaft of roller c, a suitable bight being formed by a rubber roller h, and is tensioned by a lever q. The arc of contact of the belt and the roller c is varied by adjusting a guide roller g<2> of the belt. The top front roller k is formed of rubber with or without a leather cover, and is provided with a bushing u, Fig. 4, ribbed at u<1> in line with the path of the yarn between the rollers. A condenser consisting of two separate parts o<1>, o<2> suitably shaped so as to provide a converging passage terminating in a small slot p for leading the material to the middle of the front rollers, and so as to conform with the peripheries of the adjacent rollers f, c, i, k, is mounted behind the front rollers.
