[Class 103 (vi).] In bogie trucks for railway &c. vehicles of the kind in which the side frames are of cast metal the side frames or the cross members interconnecting the same or both are formed with apertures surrounded by flanges or beadings and the flanges &c. of adjacent apertures are connected by a non-tangential beading. The cross members may be cast integrally with the side frames or separately and secured thereto. Figs. 1 and 7 show a bogie frame having side members a and a transom b, the side members being of triangular girder form widened at a<2> to withstand flexure. The axle boxes are secured at the ends and bear against ribs h, a tie member g being secured to the axle boxes and side frame. The bogie truck shown in Figs. 2 and 4 is suitable for passenger vehicles and comprises side frames a<1> and cross frames b<1>, c<1> with spring seats a<1> and cross frames b<1>, c<1> with spring, seats k above the axles if coiled springs are used or if laminated springs are used the top cover-plate is omitted as shown at l. The horns m, Fig. 5, are bored out and renewable horn blocks n are fitted and secured by bolts. Apertures d are formed in the casting and are surrounded by beads or flanges e joined by ribs f.
