383,907. Sewing-machines. FAIRWEATHER, W. C., 65, Chancery Lane, London.-(Singer Manufacturing Co. ; Elizabeth, New Jersey, U.S.A.) June 16, 1932, No. 17021. [Class 112.] Feed by dogs.-The feed dog of a cylinder bed chain stitch type of machine is moved so that its work engaging face is at all times parallel to the throat plate by a pair of feedlift eccentrics, one for each end of the feed-bar. The forward and return movement is imparted by a third eecentric. The feed dog 4 operates within the cylinder bed 1 which carries the throat plate 3 and main shaft 2. The dog 4 has a shank 4<1> seated in a groove 5 in the feedbar 6. The feed-bar has a pin 7 journalled in ears 8 of the feed rocker arm 9 and a forked arm 10 embracing the block 11 on the feed-lift eccentric 12 on the main shaft 2. The feed rocker 9 is fulcrummed on a pin 13 to the ears 14 fixed to a rock shaft 15. Adjustably clamped by screws 17<1> to the shift 15 is a vertical arm 17 connected by a pitman 18 to a second feedlift eccentric 19 on the main shaft 2. The feedlift eccentrics 12, 19 are timed to lift the front and rear ends of the feed-bar 6 simultaneously to maintain the feed dog in parallel relation with the throat plate. The rocker 9 has two ears 20 for the pin 21 fixed to a pitman 22 embracing the feed-advancing eccentrics 23 on the main shaft.
