[Class 83 (iv).] Annular bodies, such as the outer ring i of a ball bearing, are rolled between an internal roll or mandrel h which forms one face g and the inner face of the ring, and a matrix k mounted rotatably and inclined to the axis of the roll h and forming the face f, relative movement being effected in a direction inclined to the axis of the matrix between the roll and matrix during the operation. The roll h is positively driven and rotates the work and matrix by engagement therewith, the matrix running in ball bearings in the inclined housing r. A lever q supporting the housing is pivoted at j, and is gradually raised during the operation by a cam l engaging an adjustable roller t, an ejector acting when the roller passes the highest point of the cam. The roll may be fed and the matrix remain stationary.
