[Class 99 (i).] A sealing ring for pipe joints of the kind described in Specifications 149,381 and 264,095, [both in Class 99 (i), Pipes and tubes, Joints &c. for], has transverse ribs b, the free edges b<1> of which contact with the whole width of inturned edges a<1> of the ring only when the ring is applied to the pipes. The ribs may extend the whole width of the ring or may be provided with a gap. In a ring in which the lips are at an angle to one another when the ring is in position in the joint as described in Specification 234,863, [Class 99 (i), Pipes and tubes, Joints &c. for], the ribs b extend over the lips and their edges b<2> contact with one another only when the ring is applied to the pipes.
