381,337. Aircraft engine control gear. FIAT SOC. ANON., 250, Via Nizza, Turin, Italy. Oct. 9, 1931, No. 28118. Convention date, Oct. 9, 1930. [Class 4.] A device for controlling the engines of multiengined aeroplanes comprises a main lever for simultaneously controlling all the engines and secondary handles for separately controlling each engine, the secondary handles being connected to the operated members by autolock friction clutches. Two or more engines may be controlled differentially by the main lever. Levers 3, 4, 5 for controlling respectively the lateral and central engines of a triple - engined aircraft actuate levers 8, 9, 10 through autolock devices anchored to casings 21, 23. The casings 21 are connected to bevel wheels 19 through dog clutches 20 and the casing 23 is connected to one arm of a forked lever 13 straddling the gears 19 which mesh with a bevel wheel 18 on the lever 13 movable by a handle 14. Fore and aft movements of the lever 13 move all three levers 8, 9, 10 simultaneously in the same direction and turning movements of the handle 14 move the levers 8, 9 in opposite directions. The lever 13 is normally locked to quadrants 25 by a spring-pressed toothed cone 24 movable by a rod 28 connected to a knob 27. The parts are mounted on sleeves 11, 15 threaded on a common spindle 2 carried by a main casing 1. A cover 30 has slots in it so that should one of the handles 3, 4, 5 reach the end of its slot in advance of the others, when they are being moved simultaneously, its autolock is released to permit continued movement of the other levers.
