380,794. Circular looms. WEAVING MACHINES CO., Ltd., McEWAN, W. R., and VILLA, J. I., 7, Great Winchester Street, London. June 20, 1931, No. 17909. [Class 142 (ii).] In a loom such as is described in Specification 336,246, [Class 142 (ii), Looms, Kinds &c.], the shuttles are propelled by L-shaped members 11, 12, which are moved up and down in sequence by a grooved rotating cam 26, and are provided with recesses 15 acting as a shuttle race and with projections 33 for spacing the warp threads and beating up the weft. The stems 11 of the members are guided by apertures in rings 24, 25 suspended by hangers 30 from the flanged head 29 of a fixed central shaft 28. The projections 33 may be formed on reed carriers 22, which are detachably secured to the stems 11. The parts 12 may be guided by slots 32 in a fixed ring 31, or the stems 11 may be of square or angular section. The cam acts on rollers on radial extensions of collars 19 on the stems. The cam groove may be arranged so as normally to raise the shuttle driving members 11, 12 but be provided with dips 37 corresponding in length to that of the shuttles. The groove may be such as to allow a shuttle driver at the rear of the shuttle to be raised by hand to facilitate its removal for re-charging with weft.
