[Classes 18 and 66.] Surgical absorbent cotton or like material is packaged by rolling it with or without a facing strip 9, Figs. 2 and 5, to cylindrical form and placing it in a holder, cage or form 7, Fig. 3, the walls 10 of which frictionally engage the roll, a cutaway.part 13 forming an exit for the material. This holder is placed in an outer carton 8 with a breakable perforated end 16 registering with the outlet 13 and forming an adjustable closure.
