Abstract
<PICT:0380291/IV/1> Fibres such as jute are passed from a conveyer 1 between rollers 2, 3 and fall in curtain formation through a chamber 4 in which they are impregnated by a batching solution from nozzles 5, through which the solution is directed under pressure in a finely atomized condition on to the fibres. The sprayed fibres pass to discharge rollers 6, 7 and a conveyer 8 which carries them to the softeners for further treatment. Steam, air or hydraulic pressure may be used for atomizing the liquid.
