Bricks a having their front edges f chamfered or bevelled are assembled on a cement or like backing so as to touch at the back and leave an opening at the front for pointing. Unbevelled side portions c of the bricks may engage each other. The invention is particularly applicable to fireplaces, surrounds, and kerbs, a kerb-brick being shown in Fig. 5.
