379,147. Changing signs. RICHTER, M., 3, Speersort, Hamburg, Germany. Nov. 9, 1931, No. 31075. [Class 3 (i).] A device for determining the position of points on a map a comprises in combination two scales d, f<1> arranged perpendicularly to one another, the scale d being slidable over the surface of map, together with bands g, printed with lists of places &c. on the map, arranged alphabetically, and mounted on spring rollers so that after being released they are automatically rewound; the bands may also bear advertising matter. The edge of each band g is reinforced by a strip g1, and knobs g<1> are provided having on their front surface letters indicating to which places the bands refer. The strips g1 fit in grooves in the front wall of the frame of the device and the slidable scale d is arranged to run on rollers and is provided with a manipulating handle d<1> projecting through a slot c in the frame.
