[Class 143.] Printed records, apparatus for giving. - The printing-mechanism of a pendulum-weight weighing-machine is provided with justifying means comprising a lever s carrying a number of knife-edges, one at least of which precedes the others when the lever is actuated to engage the knife-edges with a toothed disc m, the knifeedges being at such a distance apart that the toothed disc and the parts of the printing- mechanism connected thereto are adjusted or held to a setting to print the weight figure which is closest to the weight as indicated, the weight indication being unaffected by such justification. The spindle c, Fig. 3, of the pointer a is set by the weighing-mechanism and is rigid with a clutch plate d that is clamped during the printing operation. A projection e on the clutch plate co-operates with a follower arm f on a shaft g to set a stepped disc h, the steps i on which are adapted to arrest the feelers k of the printing-mechanism. The stepped disc h is rigid with the toothed justifying disc m, both discs being freely mounted on the shaft g and capable of a slight rotation relative thereto under the control of a spring-urged plunger p that is carried by the discs and enter a shallow recess in a lug o projecting from an arm m rigid with the shaft. The stepped disc h is justified, prior to the actuation of the feelers k, by a lever s that is rotatable to engage its knife-edges with the toothed disc. The lever carries two stationary knife-edges x, x<1> and a pair of integral knifeedges t, the latter being slidable transversely of the lever and being urged by a spring V to precede the stationary knife-edge in engaging the disc. The slidable knife-edges t engage either between two teeth, Fig. 4, or with a tooth therebetween and serve to move the discs into justified position where they are clamped by the fixed knife-edges. The knife-edges are adjustable longitudinally of the lever.
