Abstract

378,654. Cutting tubes. PARNALL, G. G. and CLARKE, H. V., Coliseum Works, Park Row, Bristol. Sept. 1, 1931, No. 24488. [Class 83 (iv).] Dividing by a single blade.-A tube-cutting machine for aircraft parts has a blade 3 held by bolts 6, 7 to a casing 5 containing a cam 18 rotated from a crank 23. On the bolts 6, 7 is slidably mounted an anvil 8 carrying a pivoted rack 9 engaged by pawls 10, 11 operated by a lever 12 from the cam 18. The tube to be severed is inserted between the blade and the anvil by turning the bolt 7 90‹ to remove a lock 7b from slots in a member 4, and to free the pawls from the rack by a cam 7c. The machine is then relocked and rotation of the crank 23 causes the blade 3 to pierce the tube and then the anvil 8 to advance to crush the tube upon the blade 3 to complete the cut.
