Abstract
377,777. Cleaning appliances. WHITSON, E. J., 12, South Place, London. May 29, 1931, No. 15726. [Class 19.] Sponge or other absorbent material B projects from a recessed holder A of resilient material which is adapted to be connected to a pipe for supplying water to the sponge. The holder may be provided with fingers 2 having holes through which lacing is threaded to hold the sponge in place. In place of holes hook openings may be provided to enable the lacing to be inserted laterally. The holder may have an outer wall 4 and an inner wall 5, as shown in Fig. 4, the inner wall being formed with ducts 7. The tubular part C of the holder may be adjustable with respect to the body of the holder by the provision of a ball and socket joint. Valve means may be provided on the tubular part for controlling the flow of water through the sponge. The holder A may have more than one recess for a number of pieces of sponge material.
