[Class 137.] An air outlet device comprising a Venturi nozzle or other air discharge member is associated with a diffusing and directing member adapted to be disposed either normally to the axis of the discharged air stream and spaced from the outlet or to be set at an inclination to the axis of the air stream whilst also being rotatable bodily around said axis. A plate 3, Fig. 1, attached to the lower wall of an air duct carries a fixed curved nozzle 1, the outlet 4 of which projects through the plate, and on the underside a fixed bearing ring 5 concentric with the outlet. A ring 6 rotatable on the ring 5 carries a depending pillar 7 to which is hinged an air diffusing and deflecting member 8. The air passage through the nozzle is controlled by a sliding valve plate 10, a guard or covering 12 enclosing the valve plate on the air duct side. The sliding valve plate may be replaced by a pivoted plate. In a modification the outlet nozzle is rotatable and the pillar carrying the deflecting member is rigidly attached to the nozzle. In one form, Fig. 6, the deflector is formed with upstanding lugs 26 slidably and rotatably connected by means of bolts and spring washers to fixed brackets depending from the nozzle and provided with slots 29. In a modified form of deflector, openings 33 are provided near the hinge to avoid any interference with the diffusing action.
