Abstract

377,489. Police alarm systems. HUEMER, L., 12, Keifernstrasse, Dusseldorf, Germany. Sept. 14, 1931, No. 25787. [Class 40 (i).] A telephone substation is provided with apparatus by which, in the event of an alarm, the receiver is lifted and the impulse dial is operated automatically to call a police station, while a gramophone is started to transmit a message thereto. When an alarm occurs, a magnet 8 energizes and by means of a lever 6 releases a gear wheel 3 which rotates under control of a spring 4 and drives the shaft 1. Alternatively, the gear wheel 3 may be driven by a motor the circuit of which is closed by the magnet 8. The switch-hook 19 is raised by means of a lever 15 carrying a roller 17 which is lifted from a notch in a disc 13 upon the rotation of the shaft 1. A disc 23 toothed at a part of its periphery rotates through a single revolution a disc 28 which is provided with projecting studs 29 for engaging a toothed wheel 12 fixed to the shaft of the impulse dial 20, in order to effect the setting movements in accordance with the number to be transmitted. The shaft 1 also drives a gramophone turntable 34, the sound being brought to the vicinity of the microphone by means of a flexible tube 47. Wipers 40, 41, 42 co-operate with a contact disc 38 having segments arranged so that the circuit of the magnet 8 is maintained independently of the alarm contact for a complete revolution of the shaft 1, while a buzzer 46 is sounded intermittently.
