Abstract

377,425. Rolling annular bodies. SCOTT, A. C., Homestead, Lansdowne Avenue, Oaken, near Wolverhampton. July 23, 1931, No. 21008. [Class 83 (iv).] In flattening by rolling the flange 14 of an axle-casing &c. the flange is supported on a flat roll plate 10 carried in a frame 11. A conical roller 1 supported by bearings 5 in a housing 2 attached by a bolt 13 to a block 12 is rotated relatively to the casing by a motor (not shown), whilst pressure is applied through a handoperated lever to the block 12. The roller 1 carries a surface 9 normal to the main surface for forming the corner of the casing.
